Biography

Derrick LeMont Sanders, originally from Arkansas, is a busy New York actor who has been blessed to work in Film, Television and Stage. 

He is gearing up for a short run in OBAMA DRAMA: A Political Theatrical Spectacular! inspired by the Man, the Myth(s), and the Michelle of Barack Obama. Check out the News page for more details

He recently closed Southern Promises by playwright provocateur Thomas Bradshaw and acclaimed director Jose Zayas (a/d Talk Radio). The New York Times said "It’s a powerfully empathetic performance..."

This summer, Derrick's played the Duke of Burgundy along side of fellow Arkansan Daniel Davis in "King Lear" at The Shakespeare Theater of New Jersey.

Derrick recently filmed a principal role on the much anticipated feature film entitled Hey Diddle Diddle produced by The Dream Factory Productions. 

He can be seen in several independent films including Unknown Soldier, which is on DVD and playing on the cable channel Showtime.  The film was also nominated for The John Cassavetes' Independent Spirit Award.

    His television work has landed him on quite a few daytime dramas including All My Children, Guiding Light and  As The World Turns along with primetime appearances on Third Watch and the Dick Wolf series Conviction

Derrick has been very active on the stage in New York and regionally performing in works ranging from contemporary to classical .    He has played Banquo in "Macbeth", Antonio in "Twelfth Night", and Sebastian in "The Tempest" to name a few.  Some of his work in contemporary  productions included "The Old Settler", "The Piano Lesson", and "A Soldier's Play".  Derrick originated the role of Veron in "Strom Thurmond is Not a Racist/Cleansed" a play written by the exciting new playwright Thomas Bradshaw.  The play has been picked up by Samuel French for publishing.

Derrick LeMont Sanders trained in New York City at the Circle in the Square Theater School.
